Support for mature learners

Funding options for full time and part time study

Mature learners are those who are entering Higher Education over the age of 21. According to UCAS, 40% of mature learners are over 30 and have / have had work, mortgage or family responsibilities.

Mature learners, just like younger learners, can apply for financial support to help finance their Higher Education studies. They will need to apply through Student Finance England and all the details can be on our Applying for Finance section of this site.

There is also good news for those over 60 who are thinking about studying a higher level course. Those over 60 can now apply for a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan, whereas before this was only available to those under 60. Please note this is provided they are studying for their first degree.
